The Symposium Gatineau en Couleurs is the largest visual arts event in the Outaouais. Bringing together an average of 70 painters and sculptors, selected by jury, it is held every year in the fall in Gatineau and welcomes approximately 4 to 5,000 visitors.
A non-profit organization, the Symposium has existed since 2008 and attracts artists from all over Quebec and elsewhere. It has received two Symposia recognitions from the International Academy of Fine Arts of Quebec, which ranks it among the ten most appreciated symposiums in Quebec.
During the three days of the Symposium, visitors can visit the different booths of the participating artists and see some of them at work. They can interact with the artists, enrich their knowledge of visual art and acquire original works of art. A painting by a guest artist is also the subject of a draw at the event.
Its realization is made possible thanks to a grant from the City of Gatineau, the contributions of our sponsors, the financial participation of artists, the sale of calendars and the work of many volunteers, including the president and founder of the Symposium, Mrs. Monique Rouleau, the other members of the organizing committee and the Symposium's ambassador, Mr. Jean-Yves Guindon.
